A collaboration of Horrible Histories TV stars and music with the Birmingham Stage Company stage show. A new concert featuring all the songs created by Richie Webb for the BBC and some of the actors from the TV. A challenging amount of characters and costume changes on a simple set design, consisting of a decorative floor and a picture frame surrounding a video screen. I have been mindful for the design to have a set of maximum impact but with the ability for it to be set up quickly in each venue. The picture frame idea developed from the famous paintings of our monarchs in the show. I substituted our actors into the paintings together with elements of animation. We also needed video to provide an interaction between backstage sequences and onstage appearances, as well as using the video for lyrics encouraging the audience to join in. The concert has travelled across the UK to many venues and supports a cast of eight and a full five piece band.
